“Mental Health Is For P*ssies”

Why is there a negative connotation around the term “mental health”?

Why is it considered a weakness to talk about it?

If you are eating junk food and living a sedentary lifestyle…

It would be a good idea for you to improve your diet and move your body, right?

You might not be showing any physical symptoms of being unhealthy…

You might LOOK like you are in relatively good shape…

You might be fulfilling your obligations and functioning in your day-to-day life…

And you would still agree that your physical health needs some attention, right?

Don’t you think that should also be the case for your mental health?

I would argue that focusing on your mental health is MORE important than focusing on your physical health.

Everything comes from your Mind.

If you can’t control your emotions.

If you are constantly engaging in negative self-talk.

Don’t you think it would be a good idea to develop emotional control and transmute your negative self-talk into positive self-talk??

If your mind is failing you in some way…

It is going to ripple into every aspect of your life.

Whatever is going on within your mind will reflect onto your outer world.

As within, so without.

Mental Health

Mental Health

Mental health refers to your psychological, emotional, and social well-being.

The quality of your thoughts and feelings will dictate how you handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.

Physical health refers to the state of your meat vehicle.

Mental health refers to the state of your mind.

When my mind was in its most chaotic form.

When my mental organisation was a complete mess…

I was also in my most muscular condition.

From the outside, I looked like Hercules.

On the inside, I looked like The Joker.

In the realm of being a man, it is considered “weak” to talk about what you are struggling with.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for help.

And remember…

Every truth is a half-truth.

If you are speaking from a victim mindset.

If you are blaming the world for your problems…

I would agree that there is a weakness in your mentality.

And unless you talk to someone about what is going on.

Unless you ask for help…

You might never find out what the missing puzzle piece to your mind is.

This is where you need honest, trustworthy, and respectful people who will tell you exactly what you need to hear.

If you talk about your mental health from a position of radical accountability…

If you accept that you are creating your reality…

You are in a POWERFUL position.

You are taking ownership of your life.

No one is coming to save you.

No one is going to solve your problems for you.

It is up to you to create the reality you want.

Internally and externally.

If you sit around feeling sorry for yourself all day…

You have to come to the realisation that you are CHOOSING to do that.

There are a series of steps that you can take to change your physical and mental state of being.

Your job is to find out what those steps are and put one foot in front of the other.

It’s your job to figure out how to live.

The question is…

Are you willing to make the commitment and do what is best for yourself and for the people you love?

Emotions are energy in motion.

Emotions are meant to be felt and CONTROLLED.

Emotions are not meant to control you…

Emotions provide you with information.

The Principle of Rhythm states:

“Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; Rhythm compensates.”

Your mental state will fluctuate.

You will feel TREMENDOUS, CONFIDENT, and POWERFUL one day…

And then feel angry, unworthy, and useless the next.

It is your job to utilise this energy in motion in the best way possible.

Can you transmute your anger into a powerful workout?

Can you harness your POWERFUL moments and hurl yourself into the abyss of uncomfortability?

Allow yourself to FEEL your emotions.

Process them.

And direct that energy towards something that will benefit your life and that of those around you.

Courage is the choice and willingness to confront agony, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation.

It is FEELING scared and still choosing to step forward.

It is using the energy that is building up inside of you to overcome what is in front of you.

What do you think is happening when you feel your belly drop?

Do you perceive that as being a negative feeling?

Your body is a structural masterpiece and your mind is the most powerful supercomputer on earth.

When you go into fight or flight mode…

Your body knows exactly what to do.

One thing that it does is take resources from areas that aren’t required at that moment.

If you need to run away from a tiger…

Or fight for your life.

You don’t need to be processing food at that point.

What you feel when your belly drops is the process of blood draining from your stomach.

So that it can be sent to more important areas of the body (e.g. your muscles).

That feeling is your body protecting you and preparing you to ACT.

Shift your perspective and be grateful for the intelligence your body has.

The Solution

Awareness is the precursor to change.

You must first allow yourself to FEEL your emotions before you can CONTROL them.

Are you scared of a feeling?

What will happen if you just stop and process what is happening?

If you start to feel angry, sad, or fearful…

And you crack open a beer.

Roll up a joint.

Or reach for the TV remote…

You are doing yourself way more harm than good.

Jordan Peterson says:

“Conflict delayed is conflict multiplied”

This applies to conflicts with other people and conflicts within yourself.

Do you really think that FILLING your mind and your senses with short-term pleasure is going to make your feelings go away?

It won’t.

They will become magnified.

You must CHOOSE to engage in activities that improve your life instead.

You must find the root cause of what is happening within you.

And take the required action to overcome it.

You are choosing your reality in every moment.

You can choose to suppress your emotions…

Or you can choose to harness that POWER and use it to improve your life.

When there is energy in motion inside of you.

It is up to you to send it in the right direction…

Simple ways to harness and transmute negative emotions:

  • Run
  • Lift weights/Calisthenics
  • Martial arts
  • Dance
  • Breathwork
  • Meditation
  • Walk in nature
  • Write
  • Speak
  • Mental Transmutation

You are way more powerful than you give yourself credit for…

You are in complete control of how you think, speak, and act.

You may have been operating from unconscious programming that doesn’t serve you for a long time.

You may have your thoughts and behaviours wired in…

However, you can use your Conscious mind to focus your attention on more desirable thoughts, feelings, and actions.

It will feel unfamiliar and uncomfortable to begin with.

And eventually…

What is Conscious, becomes Unconscious.

And you will have wired in a new way of operating.

It takes practice.

It takes consistency.

It takes courage.

And it ABSOLUTELY worth it.
